Informative Speech Assignment & Requirements
This assignment will teach you how to present an informative speech: By speaking extemporaneously your goal for this speech is to raise the level of knowledge of your audience about a topic. This speech will teach you how to speak by only glancing briefly at note cards. Do not memorize or read your speech.
GRADE WEIGHT: 75 points for the speech and 25 points for the outline. You should have effective organization, content, and delivery.
TIME REQUIREMENT: 5-7 minutes.
Details about this kind of speech may be found in module 4 of the text. You are required to use at least one visual aid, as discussed in the text. You are required to use two references please use the correct citations (MLA or APA) and include the references in a bibliography, works cited, or reference page. You must state your sources out
loud. Orally cite the sources always. Students will present a 5-7 minute speech using only 5 or less 4×6 note cards. You must organize your speech using the informative speech outline format shown in your ebook.
OUTLINE: A full sentence outline must be submitted into Turnitin.com through Blackboard. Don’t go outside Blackboard direcly to Turnitin No codes are needed. You can review your originality report to see whether you used too much from your source or forgot to give the source credit.
Use the proper headings and symbols. (Roman Numerals then A, B, C, then 1,2, 3) Your outline format should resemble the outline template in your ebook on page 108. Use those headings and symbols. You are required to submit an outline that meets the criteria for college-level writing as stated in the Florida International University polices. Outlines should have a clearly defined thesis or central idea; provide adequate support for that idea; be organized clearly and logically; utilize the conventions of standard edited American English; be presented in a format appropriate for this assignment. It should also be edited and word-processed, grammar checked and spell-checked. If you use references please use the correct citations (MLA or APA) and include the references in a bibliography, works cited, or reference page. You must state your sources out loud.
